Why Henry Cavill is a Chiefs Fan

The youngest of four children, Cavill says that he enjoyed getting the least discipline and more freedom’ as all that fell on the older brothers. While living on the Channel Islands in Jersey, England, the Witcher star played rugby as a young schoolboy.

I probably lost some of you there with the term rugby. It’s the same sport that Americans call football. In England, rugby is football, football is soccer, and soccer...is not a thing. Cavill took his love of the sport when he came to America and put it into following some of the NFL teams in the US.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Henry reveals that he didn’t follow a particular team while living in England. He really just overall supported the English football team. Now based in the States, he says that he followed the Chiefs, specifically, on sort of a whim.

One the characters he’s been known to play, one which we know and love, is Superman. Cavill explains a pretty funny and entertaining logic as to how the Chiefs became his favorite team. The star explains that Superman, or rather his working man counterpart- Clark Kent, is from Kansas (where his ship crashed as a child). The Chiefs are from Kansas and Cavill thought it only fitting that the current superman be a Chiefs fan in support of his adopted hometown.

Fans love the whimsy of his decision and appreciate how seriously unserious he is about the whole thing. Synonymous with laughter and a good time, Cavill’s explanation certainly delivers in that tune.
